2005 Excalibur Award
Speech presented by Jim Butler at June 7, 2005 CFSC Awards banquet
The Excalibur award is my favorite. It’s an award that forces the Council to look
beyond the work-aday and recognize its leadership. When Vikki in her keynote talked
about how the 17,000 child support workers have modified American culture and showed
how Colorado leads in that progress, it is these “Knights of the Round Table” who
have the vision that move us.
This, too, was a close race with four of the five nominees having the best score in
each category. Our recipient tonight is on CACSEA, the IV-D Task Force and its subcommittees
on Goal Methodology and Arrears Management, and the Private Vendor Workgroup. In 1988,
the County collected a little over $1 million. Today under her leadership, the County
collects that on average each month. As the nomination says, “She makes us think outside
the box to work inside the box.”
