2005 Outstanding Attorney
Speech presented by Fran Keener at June 7, 2005 CFSC Awards banquet
This year we have a first. We received two nominations for Outstanding Attorney –
and they were both for the same person. The Awards committee debated for only a short
while. We unanimously agreed that the award was deserving and should be granted. Now
you know why your table placards do not contain the nominees for Outstanding Attorney.
In keeping with our theme, the long, long list of nominators placed their nomination
in the following terms:
Our attorney is a ROOTIN' TOOTIN' COWBOY and DOWN TO EARTH PARDNER
to techs, management, and court personnel. Our AMIGO is no TENDERFOOT, rather this
person has a background as a prosecuting attorney, and this knowledge aids the CSE
unit in court. Our magistrate says he is "responsive to court procedures, expedites
court matters, quick to respond, and often gives of his own time." Establishment Orders
and Contempt Orders entered and conformed at the actual court hearing are examples
of his contributions to our cause. His SOMBRERO holds a lot of responsibility. Work
history and experience has helped him to lasso all kinds of MAVERICKS at court to
make sure the kids get their support. This COWBOY updates his knowledge of appellate
cases concerning child support and discusses this knowledge with his PARDNERS and
techs routinely. His SAVVY of statutes, old and new rulings, and sharing of that material
builds a great team.
We can count on him to uphold the 'CODE
OF THE WEST' and to COWBOY UP FOR THE KIDS.
The 2005 Outstanding Attorney Award goes to Craig Emil, Weld County.
