2005 Meritorious Service
Speech presented by Julie Tandy at June 6, 2006 CFSC Awards banquet
The Meritorious Service award is given to the support person behind the front line workers. Their efficiency impacts the child support unit's effectiveness to such a degree that the difference between a good year and a so-so year can be totally attributed to their invisible work. The Council rightly recognizes the contribution these nominees illustrate.
This year's recipient started in the program over a year ago. Her first assignment was to clean up the file room. She took charge of planning and implementing the move to utilize all available space and did all of the moving and refiling of the files. She showed her qualities of persistance, positive thinking and ability to follow through on this job with little supervision. She updated six months worth of closed file reports by pulling out misfiled cases and refiling them where they belong. She created new signs, got rid of the many obsolete forms and empty boxes. The improvements she made led to a major decrease in 'misfiled' files.
In August, she took over the job of distributing reports and mail: in effect incorporating two positions into one. She was able to cut the time necessary to do the job in half.
The county appreciates having her save half of an FTE position because of her skill, accuracy and speed of handling mail and reports. And the Colorado Family Support Council is pleased to recognize such achievement by awarding this year's Award for Meritorious Service to...
