2007 Lump Sum
Speech presented by Judy Nightengale at June 12, 2007 CFSC Awards banquet
This year, the lump sum category was simply one for the record books. If you haven’t heard about the large county lump sum, you’ve been living under a rock. As Commissioner Bean stated in the keynote, it was a nationally recognized success story. For the medium counties, it was a thrilling three-way race. But in an attempt to build some suspense, let’s first award the small county lump sum award.
As always we ask each of the award recipients to explain how they received their lump sum.
Small County
The lump sum award for a small county, in the amount of $30,196.83 goes to:
Ronda Post, Custer County
Medium County
In the medium counties, we have a photo-finish, a dead-heat, yes, a tie. But unlike the Kentucky Derby, in this run for the roses, each of the two counties will receive an award. With a purse of $40,000 each, the award goes to
Megan Klomps and Jennette DiGrigoli, Moffat County
And Rhonda Perkins, Montrose County
Large County
Now for the large county lump sum. I would say it’s safe to say, the largest lump sum in the nation; the largest lump sum in the program from which it came; the largest lump sum in the history of CFSC awards. And the winner cannot be here tonight. That’s right, our champion has started a new job this month and didn’t feel it was fair as a new hire to ask to come to the conference. Like luring the best franchise players from the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees, Arapahoe County has hired her away. However, the large county lump sum will be accepted tonight by Laura Davidson of PSI’s El Paso County operations and will be delivered to Carol Wiggins, now of Arapahoe County, for her efforts in collecting an unbelievable, inconceivable, utterly fantastic, oh-my-daughter-what-a-graduation-surprise, $449,000.
