2007 Meritorious Service
Speech presented by Mardi Houston at June 12, 2007 CFSC Awards banquet
The Meritorious Service award is given to the support staff behind the front line workers. Everyone cheers the Todd Heltons, the Jake Plummers, and every Monday-morning quarterback has advice for Shannahan, but the fans don’t know about ticket-taking Tess, or media marketing Matt. If you ask the owners, they know full well that the profits of the sports organizations comes through the hard work of the back-office. When you hear about the outlandish amounts spent on Super Bowl rings, most people don’t realize it’s because every person in the winning organization gets a ring, not just the players and coaches.
CFSC also recognizes the invaluable assistance of staff. Their efficiency impacts the child support unit’s effectiveness to such a degree that the difference between a good year and a so-so year can be totally attributed to their invisible work.
This year’s recipient joined the team over a decade ago. She designed a form used in the communication between IV-A and IV-D. Her close work with the IV-A unit avoids a number of non-cooperation cases and ensures accurate referrals. She helps in locate by checking the local paper for names. New case files from her are complete with CDLE, DMV, and COVIS records, ready for the legal techs to take off.
She has stepped up to the plate and has volunteered to be the pinch hitter for OTC payments when our bookkeeper is out. She has developed and maintains a spreadsheet for the balances and billing of UIFSA costs.
This past year she has faced many adversities and as we covered her work, we have gained an immense appreciation of the heavy workload she carries. All of us have commented that we couldn’t believe how much paperwork she processes and gets done in the required timeframes.
The Colorado Family Support Council is pleased to recognize such achievement by rewarding this year’s Award for Meritorious Service to...
